The Fear of God –
A biblical fear of God, on the one hand, understands how much God hates sin and fears His judgment on sinful behavior even in the life of the believer. At the same time, it is a fear that does not turn people from God but to God as they behold His dazzling beauty, His holiness, His unfailing love, and His majestic splendor, which elicits a response of faith and praise.
Hebrews 12:10b-11 NIV
God disciplines us for our good in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Psalms 119:67-68 NLT
I used to wander off until you disciplined me, but now I closely follow your word. You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees.
To fear God is not merely to fall upon our knees. Even a godless man and a robber can do that. -Martin Luther
Jeremiah 32:39-40 NIV
I will give them singleness of heart and action so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me so that they will never turn away from me.
Jeremiah 33:9b ESV
They shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it.
Psalms 112:1b NIV
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands.
Isaiah 8:12-13 NIV
Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy; he is the one you are to fear; he is the one you are to dread.

Psalms 145:18-19 NIV
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.
Proverbs 1:7a ESV
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.
The holiness of the sovereign Lord is tremendous, vivid, and dazzling. Not to fear him would be blind foolishness. Any “knowledge of God” that is devoid of such fearful wonder is actually barren. The living God is so wonderful; he is not truly known where he is not heartily adored. -Michael Reeves
Proverbs 9:10a NIV
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.
1 Corinthians 11:27-31 NIV
So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.
